The Tigers dropped a close one to the Twins 3-2. Detroit briefly led after Kevin McGonigle's two-run homer in the fifth, scoring Zach McKinstry, but Kody Clemens answered with a two-run shot in the top of the sixth to put Minnesota ahead for good. Drew Anderson took the loss, while Dean Kremer earned the win and Yoendrys Gómez picked up the save.
The Tigers continue their series with the Twins at Comerica Park, sending Keider Montero (9-8, 3.52) to the mound against Minnesota's Zebby Matthews (9-9, 4.69). Detroit hasn't had Minnesota's number this year, trailing the season series 10-4, so Montero's steady work will be key to changing that story down the stretch.
